Peter Klein, Biota Nutrients:

"Organic fertilizer becomes license to produce"

Producers should switch to organic fertilizers of their own accord rather than waiting for it to be imposed by the market, according to Peter Klein, director and owner of Biota Nutrients BV. This way growers can invest in a sustainable future in a timely manner, so that their products remain interesting for customers.

Biota Nutrients started a year and a half ago as a specialist in the field of organic fertilizers and bio-stimulants. Founder Peter Klein developed an organic fertilizer line that he claims is the best on the market. These products enable growers to produce more sustainably and organically.

High concentration and low viscosity
Klein says his products are clearly distinguishable from other products on the market. "Our fertilizers have a high concentration, are singular, have a very low organic matter content and are completely clean. This allows growers to grow in an environmentally friendly way, and because the fertilizer has a very low viscosity it won't cause blockages in the drip systems."

Peter Klein worked for years as a grower himself before he ended up in the world of organic fertilizers. Over the years he developed a product range that he continued to develop. "After frequent testing in practice, I started supplying the product to a customer in South America and over time I gained more customers in North America and the Netherlands. That gave me the opportunity to further improve the product, so that I can now deliver the best possible quality."

However, Klein has not yet reached his goal. "My ambition is to make the product even better, cleaner and more sustainable and to grow into a standard in horticulture. I really think that's possible."

Organic production
According to Klein, organic fertilizers offer numerous benefits. An argument that weighs heavily for many growers in North and South America is the possibility to produce organically. But according to Klein, organic fertilizers also make the plant stronger and healthier and ensure better rooting.

In addition, growers can also reduce their footprint by using these clean and environmentally friendly products. "More and more growers want to produce sustainably because the market is increasingly demanding it.”

'License to produce'
“Organic fertilizers will eventually become a 'license to produce'. But I would advise growers to make that choice themselves and not wait until it's required. By growing more consciously and closer to nature, you meet the wishes of future generations, so that your product will remain popular. With organic fertilizers you invest not only in a better world, but ultimately also in yourself."
