NL: Canadian medical cannabis producers visit Holland

The large Canadian Licensed Producers of medical cannabis are faced with strict rules, when it comes to protecting their crops against pests and diseases. Andrew Hall, a Senior Consultant with A2B Engineering of Canada says: "Simply put, Canadian producers of medical cannabis do not have access to traditional chemical crop protection, so they are open to alternatives".

Working with Licensed Producers, the consultants from A2B Engineering encountered CleanLight systems operating both in greenhouses as well as in grow rooms across Canada. Hall: "We observed the beneficial effects of this technology on plants in terms of vitality and resin production. We also observed the detrimental effects of CleanLight on pests such as Botrytis and Powdery Mildew". And so, they visited Holland to meet with some of the pioneering growers, such as Bejo Seeds who have been working with this technology since 2012 in the production of vegetables. Hall: "It was good to see that they have exactly the same experience with regards to improved plant vitality, simply by solving the chronic shortage of natural UV light in greenhouses and grow rooms".

Damian van Dijk (CleanLight), Tyler Christoffer (A2B), Ross Wheatley (A2B), Andrew Hall (A2B), Bas Duijvestijn (VDH Greenhouses) during their visit at VDH Greenhouses

Their tour across Holland was coordinated by Damian van Dijk of CleanLight: "While here in Holland, these fellows wanted to see all kinds of other suppliers as well, so they can serve their customers across Canada with a broad network of qualified suppliers to the horticulture industry. Therefore, we also visited companies such as KG Greenhouses, VDH Greenhouses, Cannabis-Drying.com,  and Serious Seeds.

At the end of a whirlwind trip, Hall summarizes: "While conditions in Holland and Canada are not the same in terms of climate or in terms of regulations, we still feel that it is important for us to be familiar with all developments so we can assist our customers across Canada make the best decisions"
