CAN (ON): Ontario Cannabis Store announces new president and CEO

The Ontario Cannabis Store today announced the appointment of Cal Bricker as interim President and Chief Executive Officer.

“Cal Bricker was chosen for his extensive experience in leadership positions in both the private and public sectors,” said Hanoz Kapadia, Chair (Acting) of OCS’s Board of Directors. “The Board is confident that Mr. Bricker has the ideal experience for the job and will lead OCS forward as it works toward launching new product categories, supports the continued roll out of private retail stores and combats the illegal market.”

Mr. Bricker joins OCS from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) where he was the Senior Vice President, Horse Racing. A driven and seasoned executive with 30 years of experience, Mr. Bricker brings extensive expertise in regulated industries, communications and consumer packaged goods. He previously served as Vice President, Government Affairs and Communications for Canada with Waste Management, a global waste services company as well as President and Chairman of the Ontario Waste Management Association. Prior, he held increasingly senior public affairs and government relations roles with Labatt Breweries and Molson Breweries.

Mr. Bricker will commence his duties effective September 6, 2019, while a search is conducted. He is taking over from current President and CEO Patrick Ford who will retire after a transition period.

“Patrick’s leadership was critical in launching the OCS and leading the creation of wholesale operations in support of the Province’s private retail store model. The Board would like to thank Patrick for his service and express its gratitude for his efforts in getting the OCS off the ground and building its leadership team,” added Kapadia.
