State officials suspended a Reno cannabis grower's license on Friday amid efforts to clean up the reputation of the state's cannabis industry.
After officials froze cannabis license transfers and made surprise visits to cannabis testing laboratories statewide earlier this week, officials with the Nevada Department of Taxation on Friday suspended the license of Helios, a cultivator operating on Stillwell Avenue in Reno.
There are 13 registered owners of the cultivator, which grows medical and recreational product, according to the Department of Taxation's most recent list of licensees.
"This comes as a shock to me, to learn that the license was suspended. At this point in time, we are doing an assessment of the matter, and to my knowledge, there is nothing that took place to warrant or result in a suspension of the license," said Kiera Sears, one of the owners of the cultivator. "We take this matter very seriously, and I remain hopeful and optimistic in its positive resolution."
