In September 2018, the Board of Selectmen approved a proposal for a cannabis growing facility to be located at 2 Juniper St. in the downtown area of the former Wine Outlet and Second Impressions.
Entrepreneurs Wendell Orphe and Joseph Lupo voiced their intent to demolish the structure and build a 20,000-square-foot facility that would house an area for growing and a separate area for manufacturing of product.
“Our goal is to flower in a 7,500 square feet of canopy space our first year, and to expand to 10,000 square feet of canopy space within three years,” said Orphe during the meeting with selectmen in September 2018. “We will be applying for a cannabis cultivation tier II license and a manufacturing license to process extracts and edibles. We anticipate a full production of flower, extracts and edibles within three years.”
