CAN: Neighbor has worries about proposed cannabis farm

A Merlin woman who lives beside farmland proposed for an outdoor cannabis operation says her concerns are being ignored by all levels of government, yet the owner is moving forward on the project.

Sandy Maynard said she found out about the plan by the company 7 Farms Down in June and started to think about what it would mean for the security of her property, her quality of life, her property values and the potential odour.

Maynard said she contacted Health Canada immediately after finding out and says she has still not received a response to her complaints.

On a recent call, she said they told her to be patient.

Health Canada – which did not provide answers to questions by the deadline – has not granted 7 Farms Down a license to grow. Jason Guttridge, co-founder of the company, previously told Postmedia he was expecting to have a response in the first or second quarter of 2020.
