US (MA): Companies eyeing former mill for cannabis cultivation

The city could soon be welcoming another cannabis cultivation facility after the Planning Board last week heard plans for two businesses aiming to share the former Great Northern Dunnage building, located at 291 Westminster St.

During a Nov. 12 meeting, the board considered the approval of a site plan and special permits for Olde World Remedies and Apical, which plan to share the 110,000 square-foot building for cannabis cultivation and processing.

The permits were not granted approval, and the applicants will need to come back for the board’s December meeting to address its concerns.

According to Principal Planner Mike O’Hara, the board’s primary concern was making sure there weren’t too many employees coming and going during a shift change.
