Fertilizer gives boost to seed production, THC and CBD content

Bioris Nutrients is a company focused on the development of high quality nutrients and supplements which are specifically suitable for each of the growing cycle stages of the plant.

“Since the beginning, we have invested a substantial amount of money in R&D, both privately and with institutions such as CSIC, universities and so on,” the team with the company explains. “This ensures that our products are as advanced as possible.”

The company has conducted trials to see how their latest product would help cannabis plants thrive. “The goals of the trial were to improve and optimize the fertilization of the soil, to improve the seed content of each plant, and to increase the THC and CBD content. The process was conducted in an experimental agricultural company based in Orgiva, namely Alpujarra Granadina.”

According to them, the process consisted of carrying out a cultivation without any treatments. Then, they compared that with other two cultivations where 1 g/l and 2 g/l of Nauta were utilized.

“The application of each product (inoculation) was carried out after transplanting the plants from mastic to the field,” the company continues. “Initially, the plates were of a size of 12 cm approximately. A 100 liter capacity fertilizer spreader connected to the drip irrigation (in a 4 l/h dripper) was used for the inoculation.” To carry out the other two treatments, Nauta fertilizer was mixed with the irrigation water in the fertilizer spreader in a dilution of 1 g/l and 2 g/l, and the irrigation.

“In general, every plant was in good condition,” the company points out. “There was no disease or lack of nutrients. As flowers showed up, we carried out measurements on a weekly basis by taking into consideration the stem length, the total weight of fresh and dry biomass per hectare, as well as the weight of seeds per plant, and the THC and CBD content.”

The treatments with Nauta fertilizer proved to be superior to the one without any of it. “The third treatment showed better results for aerial development,” they remark. “These data indicate that there is a great nutritional requirement which results in higher doses and thus greater plant development. The same goes for the seed production per plant, where the Nauta treatment showed a significant difference in the weight of seeds per plant. Similarly, the THC and CBD content were higher with the use of Nauta fertilizer; we saw that especially with the third type of treatment we carried out.”

Thus, the company draws some conclusions from these trials. “Nauta stimulates plant development,” they observe. “When this is used, there is a higher production of biomass, thus increasing the crop value while reducing the costs. We also noticed that plants had reduced stress levels. To conclude, Nauta should be applied from the early stages until the flowering stage for better crop development.”
