Medicinal cannabis company Puro was issued its nursery licence by the Ministry of Health this week, allowing it to begin the seeding process at its sites in Kēkerengū and Waihopai.
Puro managing director Tim Aldridge said the nursery licence was the first of four they needed before they could begin cultivating commercially.
“The second is the import licence which we expect will be with us within days and the last two are the cultivation licences at two separate sites,” he said. “The Ministry of Health processes those in that order, so it’s a good stepping stone towards cultivation, but we need all four licences to commence operations.”
