CAN (NS): Cannabis company plants seeds for new jobs, more housing in Cornwallis Park

A shuttered call centre building in Cornwallis Park is at the heart of a budding business venture that could bring up to 200 new jobs to the area within the next three years.

“We have 43,750 square feet here that is a combination of grow facilities, mother rooms and also a processing facility for our product,” said A. K. Hollett, general manager and chief operating officer for ZURI INC.

ZURI INC. purchased the old Convergys call centre site two years ago and started working through the in-depth licensing process with Health Canada around the same time. A 25,000-square-foot portion of the expansive facility is now operational.

Health Canada’s online registry of cultivators, processors and sellers with licenses issued under the Cannabis Act lists ZURI INC. as receiving licenses for processing and cultivation on July 17.

“We’re well down the path of developing,” said Hollett.
