Harm Ammerlaan new commercial director Hortilux

On 1 November 2020, Harm Ammerlaan will start as the new commercial director at Hortilux. As sales manager at BASF Vegetable Seeds and prior to that as general manager of LetsGrow.com, Ammerlaan built up a wealth of experience and a broad network in international horticulture. Hortilux is therefore really looking forward to his arrival.

Hortilux managing director Michèl de Wit: "The arrival of Harm fits perfectly with the ambitions of Hortilux. A few years ago, we went through the transition from fixture supplier to grow lighting specialist. In addition to HPS and LED fixtures, we offer specialized knowledge and support regarding the optimal use of grow lights. In other words, we now also offer our services during the use-phase in order to increase the return per m² for our customers through a better use of the available light. We’re not just a supplier, we continuously work together with our customer for the highest yield, which is expressed in our new slogan: Your Grow Light Knowledge Partner."

"We are also expanding, both internationally as well as in new markets such as indoor farming and medical cannabis. BASF Vegetable Seeds is a global player, so Harm fits in seamlessly with this and takes us to a higher level. Besides that, BASF is a Hortilux customer, so he has a good point of view on customer needs."

Harm Ammerlaan: "The ambition and Hortilux’ new mission and vision statement as being the grow light specialist is what got my immediate attention since the very first discussion I had. This ambition combined with the strategic collaboration with external expert partners and the personal drive of the people at Hortilux is fitting perfectly with my own personal ambitions and my views on the market. High-tech horticulture is the future and supplemental lights are inevitable. And within lights there’s still a lot to learn and win regarding crop revenue and quality optimization, which are among the key focus areas of Hortilux. I therefore look very much forward to this inspiring role and am excited to work together with the best horticultural lights experts of the industry.”
