The Harrison County Development Authority on Thursday approved an agreement with Harvest Care Medical LLC for the transfer of property near the North Central West Virginia Airport in exchange for development work at the site of a planned state-of-the-art indoor medical cannabis cultivation facility and processing unit.
Under the agreement approved by the Development Authority, Harvest Care Medical will perform site development work, including demolition of an old house, installation of utilities and construction of an access road, at a price tag of around $8-10 million, according to Harrison County Commissioner David Hinkle. “For that expenditure, we will deed them the land,” Hinkle said.
The 8.39-acre site, located within the proposed Harrison Regional Industrial Park, will be deeded to the company once site development work is complete. The property includes about 6.2 acres of developable flat land. Unusable land around the site will provide a buffer around the facility, Hinkle said.
