A craft cannabis producer within the City of Kamloops is hoping to get a license from Health Canada by Christmas.
Dunesberry Farms owner Bill Bilton Jr. says his company will grow cannabis on eight-and-a-half acres on Westsyde Road, adjacent to The Dunes Golf Course.
“I believe we are the first, or would be the first, licensed facility in Kamloops for outdoor grow. The market advantage there is our cost of production. The indoor guys, they have a huge footprint for water and Hydro, and so forth, and they’re cost of production is much higher. The greenhouse guys aren’t far behind,” he says.
“So we’re going to utilize natural resources. The North Thompson River, we’ve got the nice Kamloops sunshine. So all in all, we should be able to produce a product, quite frankly, one-tenth or lower of the cost of indoor and greenhouse producers.”
