Lume Cannabis Company has moved forward with its expansion plans in Evart and recently broke ground on the expansion of its cultivation facility in the city's Industrial Park.
John Abbo, general counsel for Lume, thanked the council for approval of the agreement saying this accommodates the final request from the city to complete the excess grower and grower facility license applications. The agreement shows that Lume wishes to be a good partner with the city, he said.
“The development agreement is a continuation of the partnership that was started in 2018,” said Lume COO Doug Hellyar. “Lume has made a big investment in the city, has already created 150 jobs, and has broken ground on a new building. We expect the number of jobs to double in this phase of the expansion and approval of the licenses is critical to our expansion plans.”
The state-of-the-art grow facility plans to expand from its current 50,000 square foot facility to 450,000 square feet over the next few years. The four-phased expansion is expected to create up to 500 additional jobs.
