US (MI): Two cannabis facilities received conditional approval in Jackson

Two cannabis businesses, including a growing facility, received conditional approval to begin the building process in Jackson, just weeks after the first cannabis dispensary opened in the city.

City Council voted 6-1 at its Tuesday, Dec. 8 virtual meeting to give conditional approval to both Objectiv Growth, which intends to operate a cannabis class C growth and processing facility at 811 E. Washington Ave, and JARS Holding, which intends to open a provisioning center at 156 Cooper St.

Both businesses received prequalification from the state, records show. Councilman Freddie Dancy, Ward 2, voted no on both. The conditional approval allows both companies to request a building permit within a month. The city still must grant both businesses the related licenses before they can open.

Objectiv Growth proposes building a medical and adult use growth and processing facility at about 71,500-square feet, a proposed site plan shows. Class C grower licenses can grow up to 2,000 cannabis plants, according to state law.
