Another round of layoffs and reduction of operations at Aurora Cannabis, as the company has announced it is laying off 214 staff, and will utilize only 25% of the company’s flagship cultivation facility, Aurora Sky, Global News reports.
In addition to that, Johnathan Page, Chief Science Officer at Aurora, is retiring and will take on an advisory role to help the company with the transition.
Previously, the company announced the pausing of operation at Aurora Sun facility, affecting 30 workers.
Back in June, Aurora laid off 700 workers and disclosed plans to cease operations at five facilities. According to Miguel Martin, CEO of Aurora, all these moves are part of the company’s effort to improve its operations and its ability to meet the needs of the consumers.
"The operational excellence of Aurora Sky is core to our strategy and growth ambition, which includes a greater focus on delivering high quality, premium products and innovation led by deeper plant science and genetics expertise," Martin said.
