US (CA): Vallejo’s first legal cannabis cultivation site faces opposition

According to city documents, local pharmacy owner and Vallejo city council member Hakeem Brown applied for the opening of a cannabis “cultivation, manufacture and distribution” center in Lewis Drive in 1630.

When opened, the operation will be Vallejo’s first legally permitted “growth site.”

Brown owns a Life Enhancement Service Dispensary on Broadway Street.

According to cannabis lobbyist Max del Real, a truck company adjacent to the property is calling on the planning committee to apply. Del Real said 19 neighbors had submitted letters to the Commission to protest the growth site.

The complaint will be heard by the Planning Committee on July 7.

A memo from the city regarding Brown’s permit application states that there is a vehicle “mobility” issue in front of a large building that “looks like there are restrictions on heavy trucks.” It is also said that the site has “neighborhood opposition”.
