US (IL): Cultivation facility to sprout in Matteson in 2023

A cultivation center producing medical and recreational cannabis is expected to be in operation in Matteson by sometime in early 2023.
Officials took part Tuesday in a ceremonial groundbreaking for what will ultimately be a 558,000-square-foot growing and cultivation center employing 500 people.

A Phoenix, Arizona based company, 4Front Ventures, will operate the facility, which will have an initial phase encompassing 258,000 square feet.

The company will relocate an existing growing center in Elk Grove Village to Matteson, and is working with state officials on the transfer of its license, according to J.T. Archer, 4Front’s director of operations.
The harvests produced at the Matteson facility will supply 4Front dispensaries, which offer medical and recreational cannabis on Chicago’s Southeast Side and in Calumet City, both of which operate under the Mission Dispensaries name.
