CAN: Number of micro-licenses keep growing

The number of micro cannabis licenses across Canada continues to grow. As of Friday, September 17, there were 249 micro licenses with license holders in every province.

Micro cultivators are licensed to grow cannabis within a 200m2 canopy, while microprocessors are allowed to process up to 600kg of cannabis a year.

Ontario and BC lead the country, with 64 and 60 licenses respectively, followed by Quebec with 37, Alberta with 26, Nova Scotia with 20, and Saskatchewan with 18. Manitoba and New Brunswick are both home to 8 micros, while Newfoundland and PEI each have four.

Micro cultivators also continue to build their business, with new micro-processing licenses and product sales licenses issued most weeks to existing license holders as well.
