US (NY): "There's no guarantee we'll get a state license to grow cannabis for adult-use, but we like our chances"

Wheatfield Gardens is hoping to supply adult-use cannabis to retailers by this time next year. As far as any timeline for a decision about the licenses to grow adult-use cannabis goes, it all hinges on what the state decides to do. If the state issues cultivation licenses in the first quarter of next year, cannabis grown at Wheatfield Gardens could be in stores a year from now.

The company has been part of the hemp research program since 2017, grows without pesticides, and, as the greenhouse is completely enclosed, there is no risk of contagion from outside. "There's no guarantee we'll get a state license to grow cannabis for adult-use, but we like our chances," they stated.

Wheatfield Gardens also has a special air system in the buildings that controls the heating, cooling, humidity, and CO2 which is estimated to cut energy usage by 30% from a typical kind of greenhouse.
