One Vermont farmer in the Northeast Kingdom is hoping to add Cannabis Farm Tours to Vermont's Agri-tourism industry. Eli Harrington showed guests how he hand trims a cannabis plant during one of his tours.
It's one part of his Vertmonijuana homestead tours, where visitors can get an inside look at what it really takes to grow cannabis. "A lot of folks still haven't cultivated cannabis themselves. A lot of folks have, and they've got questions. That's been a really fun part of it," Harrington said.
Farm tours are growing in popularity all across Vermont. Harrington wants to re-define the excursion by adding cannabis tours to the mix in hopes it will bring more respect to the product while also driving benefitting agritourism and local economies.
"For us, it's really important that we're integrating with the community and talking to the conventional tourism community and saying, 'Hey, cannabis is a big deal,'" Harrington said. The Irasburg farm is a tier 2 outdoor location — which allows Harrington to grow up to 312 plants.
