New name and new direction: Viscon Plant Technology

Visser Horti Systems (automation for young plants), ViVi (breeding & tissue culture laboratories), and Viscon Aimfresh (industrial product development) join forces. The companies, all divisions of Viscon Group, will continue as Viscon Plant Technology.

With the new name, the company also takes a new strategic direction. In recent years, Visser has increasingly specialized in the interface between plant science and automation, also through the activities in ViVi and Viscon Aimfresh. The new Viscon Plant Technology will therefore focus on reliable automation, software & data, and plant science.

The family business Viscon Group entered a new season in 2019 with the arrival of the next generation and the participation of a new external shareholder. Under the leadership of the renewed board, the Viscon divisions have started to work together more closely, both internally and externally.

Visser has been making solutions for the automation of processes in horticulture for decades. In increasingly complex horticultural projects, Visser cooperates with the other divisions within the group, such as Viscon Fresh Produce, Viscon Factory Intelligence & Viscon Logistics. With the aim of 'One Viscon', the Visser name will now change to Viscon Plant Technology.

Bringing technology, software, and plant science together
With an extensive R&D department, organic plant knowledge gets combined with the latest technological innovations. Developments in AI, vision, robotics and IoT open up 'numerous new possibilities' according to the group and are given a more prominent role within Viscon Plant Technology. With Viscon Factory Intelligence, 'a dedicated software platform' is being developed for this branch of the company. Viscon will also continue to invest in 'the crucial domain knowledge and plant biology, partly due to the intensive cooperation with customers and partners.

Complete horticultural projects
Viscon Plant Technology's solutions are also increasingly part of complete horticultural projects from Viscon Group, where the company is responsible for the automation of the entire production process: from starting material to harvested and packaged products. Overhead software and data play an increasingly important role in these complete solutions.

Viscon's Chief Strategy Officer Charlotte Langerak-Visser: "With the further integration within the group, we as Viscon Plant Technology are moving from silos to interconnectedness, from doing everything ourselves to collaboration, from hardware to more software, from machine building to industrial technology and from beer mat to teamwork! We focus on strong innovations, collaborating with the divisions in the group and collaborating with strong differentiating partners."

"Through knowledge of the plant through science and software, we develop ever-innovative automation. With the entire Viscon Group, we offer complete platforms for all kinds of different crops. Together with customers and partners, we make the solution complete and optimal. We are growing and developing and look forward to flourishing together more and more!"

The new name Viscon Plant Technology is launched at the IPM in Essen and Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
