How to keep your growing environment clean

"We see most growers struggle in the air exchange between different environments, the make-up air from outside, low airflow, and lack of purification. In order to solve these hurdles, clean PPE and SOPs are required to reduce cross-contamination between plants, rooms, and the entire building. With the proper purification system, even those situations can be treated with drastic reductions in bioload and failed quality," says Brian Taylor, VP of Operations at SAGE Industrial.

AirROS by SAGE Industrial is a manufacturer of industrial surface and air Purification systems to prevent microbes and odor in air and surfaces.

Using AirROS can protect their crops by reducing and preventing microbes. As a result, this will help the crops increase their yields and have less waste. The plants have less pressure and are healthier to mount their own defenses.

Getting rid of unwanted microbes
"Growers experience loss of production due to molds, bacteria, and yeasts. They can do their best to have good SOPs (standard operating procedures) but still have losses and helps with quality control requirements. Just using filtration or air purification without SURFACE sanitation only gets part of the problem resolved. Cross-contamination from plant-to-plant, people-to-plant, and even tools-to-plant requires active sanitation to touch surfaces," Brian adds.

AirROS' air purification products are an ideal solution for any grower that wants to protect their perishables from bacteria, mold, viruses, and odor, including Botrytis, Salmonella, E.Coli, Listeria, ethylene gas, and reduce cross-contamination. Using the product will help reduce waste and extend crops' shelf life.

He continues to explain that pests are reduced by eliminating the biofilm they feed on, reducing the VOCs that attract them, and even killing them in some cases. Crop loss is dramatically affected by reducing the powdery mildew, bud rot, botrytis, and yeast.

The various air purifiers for indoor grow rooms

Phase 1: Primary air cleaning
Placing within your room's airflow, air from the environment containing microorganisms enters the purifier's internal chamber. The reaction chamber creates non-thermal plasma and generates ROS Reactive Oxygen Species).

ROS comprises five short-lived highly Reactive Oxygen Species (atomic oxygen, singlet oxygen, hydroxyl radical, superoxide, and peroxynitrite), which break down carbon-to-carbon bonds that sanitize the air and destroys all bacteria, molds, viruses, and other pathogens as they pass through the reaction chamber.

Phase 2: Secondary surface and air cleaning
Provides Surface sanitation and continued Air sanitation. The purified air now diffused into the environment contains longer-lived Reactive Oxygen Species (gas-phased H2O2- hydrogen peroxide and low concentration levels of O3-ozone) that further sanitize room air and surfaces. Again, in addition to treating the ambient air as it passes through the reaction chamber, using the H2O2 and O3 diffused into the environment, the units will further sanitize all surfaces and control odor, resulting in clean air and surfaces 24/7.

"We have growers, besides reducing or eliminating lost plants, that have increased yields. They obtain quality standards and can see increased revenue in every growth cycle, all without the use of additional chemicals. Most even reduce chemical use and labor cost and can grow organically," Brian explains.

"On top of that, with our AirROS systems, we have customers who continue to be organically certified or can obtain certification. Their quality will also increase seeing fewer rejects and more profit," Brian affirms.
