Australia: Protected cropping and soilless farming study tour

Australia's premier crop production facilities are opening their doors to participants in a specialized training program. As one of the world's largest agricultural exporters, Australia's farms boast an average cash income of more than AUD 600,000 per farm between 1999 and 2022, making it an ideal location to explore agricultural excellence.

From May 22nd to June 3rd, 2023, a two-week Protected Cropping and Soilless Farming study tour will take place in Victoria state, Australia. Organized by Genesis Horticultural Solutions and CV Hydro, both members of Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) Ltd, the program is designed for participants from the Asia-Pacific region. The tour includes classroom theory training, visits to operational farms, and practical work.

The learning center for the study tour will be the Community College of Gippsland in Victoria, with the possibility of participating in PCA's Growers day program, where commercial growers will share their experiences. In addition to learning, the program includes leisure and recreation tours during the weekends.

The study tour aims to showcase Australia's protected cropping and hydroponics/soilless farming technologies, considered among the best in the world. Tony Bundock, the Managing Director of Genesis Horticultural Solutions and the only Priva-certified Trainer in Australia, will deliver the theory training. He has conducted a 5-day training course in India in 2017 with their education partners, Aggragannya Skills Private Limited (Operating under the brand name CV Hydro), who have 15 years of training experience in India.

This study tour will be beneficial to present commercial growers using protected farming (soil or soilless), as well as those interested in learning best practices in horticulture or pursuing a career in agriculture. Participants will gain exposure to sustainable farming practices, innovative horticultural technologies, the Australian agricultural industry, agricultural policies, networking opportunities, and more.

The Study Tour Brochure and the Study Tour Syllabus are available upon request.
