CAN: Eastern Canadian growers have access to new technical and agronomic services

Eastern flower growers and nurseries have been using the technical consulting services from l'IQDHO for over 30 years now (since 1990). The non-profit organization was created for ornamental growers who needed agronomic services. The L'IQDHO team is composed of biologists, agronomists, and technicians assisting growers in their day-to-day cultivation operations, such as scouting, IPM, pest control recommendations, irrigation, nutrition, troubleshooting, and R&D.

L'IQDHO now extends their services to cannabis growers supporting them in their cultivation activities. Same as for ornamental growers, technical and agronomic services will be provided to cannabis growers.

"There is a gap in the cannabis market as far as technical support to cannabis cultivation is concerned," JP Fortin said.

The fact is that technical assistance used to be mostly provided by suppliers through their customer service department, if any, or by individual consultants. With the cannabis market shifting toward the lowest production cost, many suppliers cut back on technical assistance, leaving growers with the information they can find on the web.

L'IQDHO is an affordable option for growers. "There is no other such organization with a diversified team of scientists in the market now. Producers can become members of the organization by providing them with a time bank to use or obtain hourly services."

The service is offered in the provinces of Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
