"Every step of our process is strategic and efficient, with custom automation all around the facility," says Doug Smith, Director of Cultivation Systems at Natura, a cannabis cultivation facility in California. Production is deployed in 17 greenhouse bays, each 10,000 square feet in size. "To have control over a production of this scale, there's a critical need for ready access to data. This is where software and sensors become essential."
See this video for a tour of the facility.
One of Natura's main obstacles is how wired sensors slow down production time and complicate operations. "This is why we've decided to switch to Aranet wireless sensors. The Trym software has also been indispensable to our operation, as it gives us all the data at our fingertips. Full crop steering has allowed us to significantly increase our production over just the last few months alone."
"To monitor a facility of this scale, centralized data management is essential," Doug says. "The Trym software accomplishes this by tying together plant, environmental and compliance information all in one platform. The sensors paired with the software allows us to make a proactive approach well before it gets into the danger zone. We've been able to get into the driver's seat, know what road we're on, know where we've been, and determine which next path we want to go down."
