With biocontrol agents, cleaning products, branding possibilities, and a dehumidification system, the team with Global Horticultural is hoping to help growers reach the next level. At the Canadian Greenhouse Conference, which takes place next week, they've doubled their footprint.
High-power cleaning improved plant health with Huwa-San
Firstly, the Global Horticultural team is eager to discuss the benefits of Huwa-San, a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning product that is available from Global Horticultural in two concentrations. Huwa-San is a fast-acting product against biofilm and can be used throughout the season for irrigation line maintenance, as well as post-season cleaning by fogging in the greenhouse or by flushing the irrigation lines. As Sarah explains, Huwa-San is a very safe, food-grade, and certified organic product that is silver-stabilized. Trace amounts of silver in the solution allow the cleaning agent to maintain its potency, while the product's degradation into oxygen and water can prove beneficial to the rootzone when applied through the irrigation lines.
"Huwa-San is purely water, hydrogen peroxide, and trace amounts of silver. The breakdown of the hydrogen peroxide provides additional oxygen to the rootzone and provides growers with the added bonus of improved plant health, along with the dissolution of biofilm," says Sarah Stuive, Regional IPM Manager in Beamsville, ON.
Improving airflow with Nivola products
Global Horticultural will also be highlighting its Nivola products, namely the Nivolator fan and Nivolution dehumidification system. The Nivolator was designed decades ago, and although Nivola works continuously to test for design improvements, the original design has proven itself year after year. By pulling two airstreams through its conical design, the Nivolator pulls air upwards efficiently and circulates them back over. This, according to Sarah, results in improved air circulation and a reduction in gapping requirements, which improves energy efficiency. By combining the Nivolator fan with the Nivolution dehumidification system, growers can eliminate dead air and drafts within the greenhouse, thus creating a homogeneous environment.
Biocontrol agents now from local producers
Another highlight for Global Horticultural at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference will be its biocontrol programs, with biocontrol agents now provided by North American producers. This is in contrast to importing beneficial insects from Europe and/or Africa. With production now in North America, Global Horticultural can offer shorter shipping times, less handling, reduced risk of shortages, and improved communications between biocontrol producers, Global Horticultural, and greenhouse growers. This, combined with Global Horticultural's close follow-ups of their IPM programs, ensures that growers have the advice and products when they need them.
"We have six consultants on the road for all our greenhouse growers' needs. We have custom programs for every client, and we organize regular visits, every other week at minimum," explains Sarah.
Make your brand pop with customizable tags and packaging
And finally, Global Horticultural will be highlighting two major ways in which they help growers build brand awareness: with highly customizable plants and packaging. With Global Horticultural tags, growers can design everything from the size, shape, and color of the tags. With this customizability in hand, producers can easily ensure uniformity across all branding materials.
"Rather than providing a small tag that is just commonplace, Global Horticultural creates custom-designed tags that are UV-resistant and waterproof with hundreds of sizes, competitive pricing, and all made with recycled post-consumer materials that can then be recycled again," explains Sarah. "In an industry where everyone is fighting to stand out, having uniformity in your marketing is important, so we aim to provide that."
On the packaging side, Global Horticultural offers the same flexibility through its wide range of options for plastic sleeves, pot sleeves, eco-cups, covers, etc. As with the tags, these products are all made with post-consumer recycled material that can be recycled again. Growers are also backed by the Global Horticultural team, who walks them through the whole process to ensure the packaging fits perfectly with their plants and with their branding.
The Canadian Greenhouse Conference is taking place at the Niagara Falls Convention Center on October 4-5. The team with Global Horticulture is present at booth 801.
