The Canadian government makes a substantial investment to energize the local Quebec manufacturing sector, with a total of $4M in repayable contributions announced today for Les Industries Harnois and Industries Mailhot. This financial assistance from the Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) aims to foster economic development and enhance productivity within the province.
Les Industries Harnois, active in the metal processing sector since 1965, specializes in the design, manufacturing, and installation of MegaDomeTM metal greenhouses and building structures for agricultural, industrial, and municipal applications. In order to capitalize on market opportunities in Canada and the U.S., the company plans to relocate certain manufacturing activities to a new plant, representing a total investment exceeding $6.7M. CED's $1.5M contribution will focus on acquiring and installing digital production equipment, including a laser tube cutter, a robotic welding line, a digital crimper, and other related machinery. This support will also facilitate the launch of the new Vermax line of glass greenhouses.
"It's heartwarming to see the Canadian government's dedication to the manufacturing sector. With these significant investments, we're not just sustaining businesses; we're gearing up for a future that's stronger, greener, and equitable for all. Let's stay tuned to witness how these projects unfold and drive the region towards a thriving industrial tomorrow", the Harnois team says.
Also Industries Mailhot, a manufacturer specializing in the design, manufacture, and sale of nitrided hydraulic cylinders, was granted support.
Annie Koutrakis, Member of Parliament for Vimy and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED, highlighted the government's commitment to manufacturing businesses, emphasizing the role of Les Industries Harnois and Industries Mailhot in driving Quebec's economic growth. The Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Member of Parliament for Hochelaga, Minister of Tourism, and Minister responsible for CED, stressed the importance of SMEs in Quebec's economic development and their contribution to regional growth.
The funds provided to Les Industries Harnois and Industries Mailhot are part of CED's Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program, which supports entrepreneurs using innovation to enhance competitiveness and regional economic stakeholders fostering an entrepreneurial environment conducive to innovation and growth. As the key federal partner in Quebec's regional economic development, CED, with its 12 regional business offices, continues to support businesses, organizations, and regions as they transition into tomorrow's economy.
