US (OH): "We've scaled up significantly here"

Recreational marijuana will start being sold at licensed dispensaries on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to adults who are 21 and over. The state recently started issuing dual licenses to cultivators to be able to produce and process recreational marijuana. Cresco Labs in Yellow Springs received its license only a couple of weeks ago and was one of the first in the state to get it.

The lab had a provisional license but had to wait a few weeks for the state to process the application fully. Cresco Labs in Yellow Springs Facility Director Joe Chek said the provisional license meant that the facility was on the right track to get the certificate of occupancy for the cultivation and processing of recreational marijuana, but it did not officially authorize the facility for that type of cultivation and processing.

Chek said without the dual license it would not be able to sell products to dispensaries that will be selling for recreational use. The facility started to prepare before receiving its official dual license.

"In preparation for the adult-use market to go live, we've scaled up significantly here. We've changed our cultivation schedule to more than double the amount of biomass that we're producing," said Chek.
