US (NJ): Vineland-based cannabis cultivation grows as demand soars

A marijuana facility that opened four years ago at 1560 North West Blvd. is expanding with city approval to meet increased demand for more and new "adult use," or recreational, products in New Jersey.

The Cannabist Co. has growing and manufacturing operations in a former factory near West Wheat Road. Cannabist, formerly known as Columbia Care, opened that facility as well as a dispensary at 1062 N. Delsea Drive in 2020.

"As the state's adult-use cannabis market continues to grow and consumers expand their needs, we are experiencing increased demand for our products, particularly finished goods like concentrates and edibles," said Volley Hayhurst, the company's vice president of operations.

"This expansion will enhance our commercial kitchen and extraction capabilities, allowing us to increase production and develop more diverse products for both our in-house brands and for our brand partners," Hayhurst said.
