The Director General of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities (ANRAC), Mohamed El Guerrouj, inaugurated on Tuesday the first legal cannabis processing plant in the province of Taounate.
Marking the beginning of a new era for the cannabis industry in Morocco, this opening, which follows the implementation of Law 13-21 on the legal uses of cannabis, promises significant changes, particularly with the creation of jobs and the development of a high value-added sector aimed at improving the local economy and promoting a more responsible industry.
In a statement to the press, El Guerrouj emphasized that the launch of operations at this first processing plant will open new prospects for the local economy.
"Thanks to the joint efforts of the government and ANRAC, all the conditions are in place for this new industry to launch successfully," he said.
He also noted that one of the priorities of this initiative is to support investors and farmers, stating that "this initiative will allow a growing number of local players to benefit from the opportunities offered by this new legal sector."
Furthermore, the ANRAC Director General mentioned that the agency has implemented a rigorous control program to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
According to him, "this program, which aims to promote a responsible and high-quality industry, will be periodically evaluated to ensure its effectiveness and its adaptation to the sector's evolution."
