Cincinnati area dispensaries are spreading seasonal cheer as they participate in the very first "Green Wednesday" in Ohio since adult-use cannabis legalization last year. On Nov. 7, 2023, Ohio became the twenty-fourth state in the U.S. to legalize adult-use cannabis with 57% of voters casting a ballot in favor of Issue 2.
Although the state of Ohio does not sanction this unofficial holiday, "Green Wednesday" is comparable to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, this day focuses on shopping deals involving legal cannabis.
Dispensaries cannot use the phrase "Green Wednesday" in their marketing, but what they can do is hold a sale.
"We have sales going on Wednesday and Friday this week," General manager of The Landing Dispensary Abayomi Nelson explains. "There's some door-busting sales. We have a lot of sales specifically about our curated collection which is great for people that are new to the program."
