US (NJ): Former Kosher poultry facility to be transformed into grow facility

A former poultry-processing plant here is in line for a second life as a marijuana-growing facility, although the new owners are facing a lot of renovations.

The property, almost 7 acres on the 1100 block of South Mill Road, formerly held Vineland Kosher Poultry. The business closed in December 2010 after more than four decades processing chickens, turkeys, and ducks.

Ohm Property Management NJ bought the property in late 2023 and plans a three-phase project to renovate and expand the facility. It would be a second operation for the family-owned business after one in Michigan, its representatives told city officials last week.

The Planning Board unanimously approved the project at its Jan. 8 meeting, with the only rough patch in its review being compliance with landscaping rules. Cannabis facilities are exempt from most local property appearance standards for industrial properties, but not perimeter landscaping.
