Second Skin is now officially patented. Second Skin was specially developed by Metazet to protect cultivation gutters with a plastic top layer. This layer reduces the adhesion of algae and fertilizer, making cleaning easier and increasing the lifespan of the cultivation gutters.
Second Skin can be applied to both existing gutters and new construction projects. "This makes it a versatile solution that helps growers meet the strictest hygiene standards. "Metazet proves once again that innovation is a core value. Second Skin enables growers to continue growing on existing cultivation gutters or to start hygienically and sustainably from new construction projects," said general manager Luke van Adrichem.

The story behind the patent
The development of Second Skin required intensive research and months of practical testing. Project leader Roy van Meel shares, "Our goal was to develop a sustainable solution that is practically applicable and can be installed at lightning speed. The result? In a very short time, the growing gutters at the nursery regain their original appearance and contribute to a hygienic growing environment. The fact that we have obtained a patent for this innovation helps us protect our unique solution and successfully market it."
After a successful pilot phase on its own FormFlex® cultivation gutters in the Netherlands, Metazet has now secured its first orders internationally. The technology can be applied to almost any cultivation gutter model, as the mobile profiling machine can be adjusted to any gutter shape.
