One of the clear signs of spring in Maine is when farmers' markets begin to pop up across the state. From produce to flowers to all things in between, it's a chance for farmers and consumers to come face to face.
But according to The Marijuana Herald, there potentially could be a new type of farmers' market coming to Maine. One where farmers and consumers will still be able to come face to face. But instead of veggies, it'll all about cannabis.
A new bill with bipartisan support has made its way to the Maine legislature. House Bill 1559 would allow for medical marijuana farmers' markets to become legal in Maine. The terminology in the bill suggests that these could be indoor or outdoor farmers' markets depending on the season.
One of the more interesting tidbits of language in the bill is that medical marijuana patients would also legally be allowed to consume cannabis on site at these farmers' markets.
