US: Medical cannabis cultivation facility aims to bring new growth to Winchester

As Kentucky's medical cannabis program moves closer to full implementation, a major milestone was celebrated this week in Winchester.

Cresco Labs hosted a ribbon-cutting of its new cultivation facility, housed in a repurposed gun and ammunition factory—an effort that promises to speed up access to medical cannabis for Clark County residents.

Representatives from Cresco Labs, local leaders, and state officials gathered for the ceremony at the facility. The company emphasized the importance of education and community engagement as Kentucky rolls out its medical cannabis program.

"These programs are built; they're not just created," said Charlie Bachtell, CEO of Cresco Labs. "So we've got a lot of experience and awareness and education platforms that are needed in order to make sure all stakeholders in the state understand what medical cannabis is and how to participate in the program, and we look forward to bringing that experience here."
