Leli Holland reaches construction milestone for Phase II facility

Leli Holland, the Dutch subsidiary of Village Farms International, has reached a new construction milestone at its Phase II facility in Groningen. The expansion is part of the company's continued involvement in the Netherlands' regulated cannabis supply chain experiment.

"Phase II will expand our production capabilities and help meet the demands of the evolving legal market with consistency, quality, and compliance at the forefront," the company stated in a post on LinkedIn.

Earlier this year, Leli Holland released its first batch of indoor-grown flower. Backed by Village Farms, the company leveraged decades of horticultural experience and cannabis-specific know-how to enter the Dutch market. That included the use of LED lighting, proprietary genetics developed in Canada, and a cross-continental exchange of cultivation knowledge between the Canadian and Dutch teams.

While the Dutch experiment allows for unlimited cultivation within the capacity of each licensed facility, demand forecasting remains a moving target. With direct sales to coffee shops and real-time consumer feedback, growers like Leli Holland are in a position to continuously adjust and improve both quality and production planning. The Phase II expansion may indeed play a crucial role in scaling up operations to meet that demand.
