US (CO): INCBA’s annual cannabis law institute returns to Denver

The International Cannabis Bar Association (INCBA) has unveiled its Annual Cannabis Law Institute (CLI), taking place June 12–13, 2025, at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law - the site of the very first CLI. This year's event is a landmark celebration of INCBA's 10-year anniversary and a decade of cannabis legal progress. To kick off the celebration, INCBA will host a joint mixer with the Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA) on the evening of June 11th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, bringing together legal professionals, regulators, and industry leaders from across the country.

Under the guiding theme "What We've Done and What's to Come," CLI 2025 will reflect on the major legal, regulatory, and policy shifts that have shaped the cannabis space over the past decade - and offer forward-looking insights into the next era of cannabis law, as the industry navigates a period of increasing complexity, opportunity, and national momentum.

"This is more than an anniversary — it's a testament to how far the legal cannabis community has come," said David Ruskin, president of INCBA. "The Cannabis Law Institute has consistently been the go-to event for cannabis attorneys and thought leaders. This year, we honor the past, engage with the present, and help shape the future."

The conference programming will delve into a variety of themes, including the evolution of state cannabis programs and the forthcoming wave of reforms. It will examine the role of medical cannabis within an era predominated by adult-use and explore how cannabis law intersects with areas such as artificial intelligence, employment rights, and financial regulation. Participants will also discuss advertising and free speech in the context of restrictive federal policies, as well as social equity and civil rights within a changing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) landscape. Additionally, the conference will cover topics related to trademarks, intellectual property, and strategies for protecting brands in global markets. Discussions will also extend to federal rescheduling, product liability, and the future of risk management in the cannabis industry.

With participation from top cannabis attorneys, in-house counsel, academics, regulators, and policy experts, CLI 2025 will once again serve as the definitive gathering for the cannabis legal community — offering cutting-edge CLE content, unmatched networking, and a celebration of the people and policies shaping the next decade.
