A Greeley-based cannabis company and its owner have been barred from the Colorado cannabis market after they were sued for illegally selling cannabis products marketed as hemp. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Monday that his office had settled with Gee Distributors, LCC, and its owner, Christopher Landon Eoff, permanently barring Eoff and his company's Colorado subsidiary, known as CBDDY, from operating any cannabis-related business in the state.
The complaint was filed by the Colorado Attorney General's Office last June after a state investigation found that the company "illegally sold cannabis products marketed as federally legal industrial hemp and falsified required state testing lab results," the AG said.
The company was based in Greeley but operated mostly online when it wasn't actively doing business in Colorado. The AG said the business sold cannabis products to consumers in the state and across the country.
The AG said the investigation also found that Eoff had falsified lab results to misrepresent the THC content of his products, did not verify the age of his customers and marketed products to appeal to children.
