Five hometown friends have launched Maryland's first micro-grow cannabis operation, rooted in craftsmanship and Eastern Shore pride. Farm Coast was awarded its micro-grow license in July 2024. Since then, they have been working to bring more homegrown cannabis to the Eastern Shore. Five fathers—James, Anthony, Matt, Tim, and Cody—said they are dedicated to the brand's mission.
"Our focus is really on providing great products that we can stand behind to the Eastern Shore, and we're going to do everything we can to fulfill that promise. It's in both our mission and vision to fulfill that," Anthony Darby said. The group is using a repurposed greenhouse and renovated shipping containers as their cultivation sites.
"We look at this as a tool for wellness, if used in the right way. Like anything else, it shouldn't be abused, but there are a lot of opportunities for folks who may be stressed or having issues with sleep or pain. Cannabis can be a really great tool. We want to be the brand that folks can trust when they're looking to utilize it," Darby said.
The brand expects to distribute small amounts of product by the beginning of 2026, with products filling dispensary shelves by next fall. Managing partner James Russ Jr. said each partner's unique background makes this group a real "dream team."
