At their meeting on Wednesday October 29, the Carson City Planning Commission will review special use permit requests for the new operator of an existing cannabis cultivation and production facility in east Carson City. The meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., at 5 p.m.
Planning commissioners will consider two SUP applications for Sundae Co. LLC due to a change in ownership of a cannabis facility at 5700 Morgan Mill Road. The first SUP is for cannabis cultivation and the second is for cannabis production. The property is zoned general industrial. The original SUPs were approved Oct. 24, 2018, according to a staff report.
"The request involves no expansion of the existing building footprint or any material operational changes. The facility operates indoors, with business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a workforce of approximately four to 10 employees," reads the SUP application. "Cultivation activities consist of indoor, controlled-environment plant production consistent with state licensing requirements. Production and manufacturing activities are limited to post-harvest handling, including trimming, curing, weighing, packaging, labeling and assembly of pre-rolls.
"No solvent-based or non-solvent extraction is proposed at this time, and no extraction equipment will be installed or operated. If the company wishes to pursue extraction in the future, a separate special use permit modification will be submitted for full review."
