POSITION TITLE:                              Assistant Grower

POSITION STATUS:                         Full-Time Exempt/ Salary

POSITION RANGE OF PAY:          $45,000 - $60,000 (depending on experience)


Copperstate’s Assistant Grower is responsible for day-to-day involvement in the growing of plants and implementation of reliable growing processes including irrigation, lighting, temperature, growing media, fertilization, nutrition, and monitoring the overall health of plants.



Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Determine and monitor nutrient and watering/moisture requirements.
  • Control and monitor environmental conditions by regulating humidity, ventilation, and temperature utilizing Priva climate control software per specifications given.
  • Communicates greenhouse or plant issues to Management or Head Grower immediately.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting crop issues and diagnosis of unknown health or damage problems under direction of Grower.
  • Maintain records of crop activities and observations, including growth records.
  • Maintains and follows set routines established for Assistant Growers.
  • Follow specifications for crop under the direction of Grower and Head Grower.
  • Follow growing schedules by determining schedules with Grower.
  • Help to troubleshoot greenhouse mechanical/environmental control systems.
  • Aid in training of other Assistant Growers when needed.
  • Work well and effectively with fellow co-workers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information that is meant to be confidential.
  • Observe, see, hear and respond to directions given with effective outcomes.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Any other duties assigned by management, as applicable.




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or Agriculture or related field;
  • Associates Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field with 1-2 years of experience, cannabis experience preferred


  • Collaborative skills used in the assignment of tasks given to Assistant Growers.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office and Priva software or similar.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required.
  • Training skills used to train other Assistant Growers when needed.

  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hands.
  • Frequently requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Frequently stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Must work in hot conditions with high humidity.
  • Lift 25-50 pounds from the floor to a waist-high table when necessary.
  • Crouch & bend often.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Sit for short/ medium periods of time.
  • Walk for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or at floor level.
  • Handle the responsibilities and routine stress often associated with this position.



TIME MANAGEMENT: Must plan two to twelve weeks in advance, depending upon the directive given by the site supervisor.

STRESS MANAGEMENT: Periodic stress due to intermediate time deadlines and timely implementation of department particulars.

PUBLIC CONTACT: Effectively interact primarily with a broad range of people across many different arenas for the company.

RESPONSIBILITY: Work collaboratively with your supervisor in establishing, implementing, organizing, and evaluating an effective program.
