US (NY): Hemp industrial park to create hundreds of jobs

Canadian cannabis company, Canopy Growth Corporation has announced the acquisition of a 308,000 square-foot facility located on a 48-acre property in Kirkwood, New York as they continue with plans to establish a hemp industrial park in the Southern Tier region of the state.

Canopy received a license from New York State in January of 2019, permitting the company to construct an extraction and processing facility which will be capable of producing thousands of pounds of hemp-derived cannabis extracts every year.

Canopy chairman & co-CEO, Bruce Linton says that the company wants to give local vendors priority and “create meaningful career opportunities” in the communities in which they operate.

Linton says that the company hopes to attract like-minded businesses and entrepreneurs with a passion for hemp to create an environment that stimulates the economy more than any single commercial enterprise could.
