US (MA): Grow Space New England heading into planning phase of project

Developers are moving forward with plans to build greenhouses for a marijuana cultivation facility on a 30-acre property on Route 12 near Corey Hill Road, Ashburnham.

Representative Robert Wolf for Grow Space New England presented the idea to selectmen during a June 3 meeting, explaining the process and potential of the project.

"What we do is we basically find and develop land sites with greenhouses that lead to cannabis cultivation," said Wolf. "We lease these to licensed cultivators. So, the cultivators would have a host agreement with you but we help facilitate that."

He added that the total project would cost about $4.5 million, which he says will benefit the tax base of the town.

The main building, said Wolf, said would be about 6,000 square feet and include offices, preparatory rooms, restrooms, and more. Small greenhouses would also be on the property.
