Medicinal Cannabis Mastercourse ends with visit at Hortilux

During the final day of the Medicinal Cannabis Mastercourse organized by Jungle Talks, held in the Netherlands, participants visited the Horticenter and the lighting company Hortilux. The company has shared a video illustrating the topics discussed during the visit.

Michel de Wit, Commercial Director with Hortilux pointed out the importance of knowledge sharing in the cannabis industry: "We strongly believe that knowledge sharing for us should be the key driver of our strategy.

"I found very interesting the collaboration effort that they have between the research and development, as well as Hortilux's technology innovation," said Jenn Ayotte, cultivation manager with Wayland.

"We still have a lot to learn and it is important to understand the spectra that are relative to the plant growth in its natural habitat. Cannabis is a very diverse crop that has a lot of influences from its environment, and those influences dictate the quality of the product that is produced. If we can mimic the environmental conditions where this plant flourishes, we can maximize its potential to help people," said Andrew Langlois with Old Planters of Cape Ann.

"We started with sorting out what is the best light source customers can use in the area they are located. We discussed about HPS and LED lights, or a combination of both. The end conclusion is that there are different solutions for areas with daylight or without daylight. HPS lights will be the cheapest way of lighting," said Paul van der Valk, Area Sales Manager Europe with Hortilux.
