US (MO): Cannabis manufacturing facility could be built in Camdenton

A proposed marijuana manufacturing facility on Old Highway 5 in Camdenton cleared a hurdle towards development, when it received a green-light from the Camden County Planning and Zoning Commission.

At their Wednesday, June 19 meeting, the P&Z commission approved recommending a request by Richard Stadtler to rezone his property from Residential-2 to Industrial, for the operation of a proposed marijuana manufacturing facility. The property is located at 5611 Old Route 5 in Camdenton. The final decision will go before the Camden County Commission on Thursday, July 18.

Missouri voters passed Amendment 2, by a margin of 66 to 34 percent, changing the Missouri Constitution, in November 2019, to allow the purchase, cultivation, dispensing, manufacturing, transporting and testing of medicinal marijuana in Missouri. Each activity requires a different state license. Missouri joined 33 other states and Washington D.C. in medical marijuana legalization.

Even if the Camden County Commission approves the rezone, it is not guaranteed that Stadtler will be given a license to manufacture marijuana in Camden County, as there will only be a limited number of licenses granted by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
