Canadian licensed producer Aurora Cannabis Inc. will look more like a trailer park than a tech hub during the construction of its $130 million Aurora Sun production facility in Medicine Hat, Alta.
When launched, the 1.6 million sq.-ft. site will include purpose-built grow rooms for medical cannabis. Press materials from the company tout “next generation” features such as rainwater and snow melt capture systems and robotic shuttles.
For now, however, the temporary 5,000 sq.-ft. setup will feature a staff room, offices, storage space and a production room—located in eight trailers.
Medicine Hat’s municipal planning commission voted in favour of allowing the portables on June 26.
