CAN (QC): Contractor selected for Hemmingford based greenhouse project

Matica Enterprises has engaged Groupe Icore as general contractors to manage the construction of the Company’s greenhouse project in the township of Hemmingford, Quebec.  According to them, Icore will be working again with Architect, Latimer Hu who designed the Dorval growing facility and Matica has also engaged SNC Lavalin as project engineers.

"In Hemmingford, Matica is erecting a 200,000 square foot greenhouse in the first phase of projected total of 1,000,000 square feet of combined greenhouses," the team with the company explains. "The property is due south of Montreal in an area of Quebec is known as “Les Jardins du Quebec” (Quebec’s gardens). The unique microclimate of this region is such that it receives a large amount of sunlight and is reported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to receive over 1,800 effective growing degree days. The combination of microclimate, access to fresh water, and inexpensive power makes this an excellent location for greenhouses. The property is within an hour’s drive of the RoyalMax’s Dorval growing facility."
