The business of bud is booming, as legalization of the once off-limits plant spreads roots throughout North America and into far-flung international markets. Thousands of licenses have been awarded by governmental agencies in Canada and the United States at the local, state, provincial and federal levels, and many businesses are beginning to demonstrate maturity in their respective cannabis spaces.
Some of the most enterprising and brightest professionals working with hemp and THC-rich cannabis are preparing to address subjects of relevance to the industry and to network with up-and-coming interests at this year’s Cannabis World Congress and Business Expo (CWCBExpo), to be held over four days this fall in Los Angeles.
CWCBExpo kicks off Wednesday, September 25, with a continuing education workshop on cannabis business law in California (and beyond) as exhibitors move in and service areas get set up. The bulk of the expo will take place September 26-28, with informative daily keynote addresses and opportunities to mingle with other professionals, find jobs, access pot-friendly media and promote new ventures.
In its sixth year, the expo will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of the city’s Cannabis Week festivities. More than 40 sessions will touch on all aspects of the legalized medicinal and adult use markets for cannabis, including research, marketing and branding, banking and finance, legal compliance, community building and hemp’s potential.
As part of its focus on hemp, CWCBExpo will feature a dedicated educational track, an in-depth workshop sponsored by the National Hemp Association and the return of the show floor Hemp Pavilion.
Major brands in the industry will showcase cutting-edge products and services to cultivation and retail businesses, as well as entrepreneurs considering an entry point in the market, medical professionals and professional service providers.
The expo takes place three times a year in the metropolitan markets of Los Angeles, Boston and New York City. The New York event in June sold out the exhibit floor and featured a crowded hall for the opening keynote address by Harvest Health & Recreation CEO Steve White, who will also lead off the LA event.
