Corinne, Utah, population 700, will soon welcome a new kind of crop to its rural landscape: medical cannabis.
Standard Wellness, a grower based in Ohio and one of eight growers licensed in Utah, plans to start growing in Corinne by early November.
So far, Standard Wellness is the only company to clear all the hurdles that the seven other growers have encountered as they’ve sought building and use permits in various cities throughout the state.
At this point, Standard Wellness only has a license to grow, but could apply for licenses to process and dispense medical cannabis in the future.
Elka Wallace and Blair Holmes, members of the Corinne city Zoning and Planning Commission, said there was no opposition to the cannabis facility at public meetings.
